Resurgence Brewing Company, Central Rock Gym and Seagate Development Group officials held a groundbreaking ceremony on July 19.
Fort Myers is climbing into business and is about to get a lot “boulder” in reaching new heights in entertainment with the first official dig for the construction of the Resurgence Brewing Company and Central Rock Gym.
The upcoming brewpub will pour high-scaling craft beers filled with liquid courage while fitted with an adjacent indoor rock-climbing gym, roping in thrill seekers and beer drinkers alike.
“Get ready to rock and roll,” says Doug Hrabik, senior project manager for the contractor and developer, Seagate Development Group. “This is a major milestone for us. We have put our hearts and souls into this the past couple of years. Lee County is a great location and has the demographic for this. We are ready to grasp the next steps and excited to get it going.”
With ribboned shovels, officials from Seagate, Resurgence Brewing and Central Rock Gym held a groundbreaking ceremony on July 19. The new spot to hang out and have co*cktails served on the rocks is coming to 6150 Exchange Lane in Fort Myers and construction is scheduled to begin in October with plans to open by the end of next summer.

“Thank you to Lee County and everyone here who has helped with this process. I cannot wait to be back for our grand opening, which will not be held at 10 a.m.,” laughed Jeff Ware, owner of Resurgence Brewing. “We are really thrilled and excited to be here.”
The company plans to incorporate other fresh features such as Sunday brunches, birthday parties and celebrations, and corporate team bonding, creating a new kind of elevated experience for residents and visitors to grab onto.
The brewhouse will be located within a 25,000-square-foot structure and proudly announce its partnership with Central Rock Gym. The gym will introduce weekly rotating routes of indoor climbing for all levels. The gym will offer a stretch of challenging courses designed to push experienced climbers to new peaks, alongside easier paths that cater to rocky beginners looking to build skills and confidence.

“There are a lot of great breweries and spots here for co*cktails, and we are excited to join that family, beer culture and community in Fort Myers,” said Ware. “We cannot wait to showcase our beers; we do small batches of experimental brews and work with the mentality of having a great beer experience.”
Resurgence Brewing is known for its “love, live and breathe Buffalo” mindset, as its owners kicked off the idea with their first spot in Buffalo, N.Y. But the brand is now descending south, making Fort Myers its next home.
The husband-and-wife duo began brewing beers in their kitchen, using a system made of converted Coleman coolers and, yes, a turkey fryer. Since its establishment in 2014, the team has swilled just under 5,000 gallons of craft beer per week, pouring into the passion of beer making and sharing fermented friendships with other enthusiasts.
Popular brews include the Green Heart, the flagship IPA crafted for those who are hoppy at heart. With notes of pineapple, melon and light peach, the beer has hazy, smooth flares and a tropical tang. Other pours are Cosmic Truth, Citmo IPA and Bridge Pils, plus seasonal blends of the Loganberry Wit, Old Neighborhood Irish, Summer Ale and specialty holiday releases.
Celebratory beers were poured following the groundbreaking ceremony in Fort Myers.
“We all have that one friend that only drinks a vodka soda, so don’t worry, we also make ciders and will have a full-service bar and restaurant,” says Ware. “It will be a really cool space, having the brewery with its production equipment visible, an outdoor patio and views of the climbers.”
Resurgence ciders include tasty sips of PB&J and Grandstand Peach, winners of the Erie County Fair’s Annual Cider Homebrew Competition. Bar bites will have the classics of sharable giant pretzels, buffalo chicken dip, nachos and truffle fries. Other menu items are burgers and handhelds, salads, saucy wings and sides of homemade macaroni and cheese.
Officials from both companies said Resurgence Brewing and Central Rock Gym focus on the community, creating a gathering spot for friends, family, and neighbors to get social. Central Rock builds stronger ties with youth programs, fundraiser events and friendly competitions.
Central Rock offers a range of fitness and climbing amenities including auto belays, tension and kilter boards, plus yoga, weights and cardio classes. The gym also hosts WomXns Climbing meetups, a unique program designed specifically for women who want to challenge themselves while building strength and gaining coordination in a fun and supportive atmosphere.
“Thanks to Seagate and Resurgence for bringing this to Southwest Florida. This will be our fifth facility in Florida and just celebrated our 15th anniversary with other successful locations. This brings in a new way of socializing to the area,” said the Central Rock team.
“Gyms and breweries have different rush times, which will be great for us in business. It will gain from the morning and weekend people plus the nighttime crowd, too,” Ware said. “We are hoping to have full parking lots.”
“Grab a beer and let us raise a toast,” said Tammy Phillips of Seagate Development Group.
Seagate Development Group has over 300 employees and has been building designs since 2015. The company has a portfolio of over $2.5 billion in development projects and $400 million in current construction contracts. ¦
